    Primary Care

    Your Medical Home Port team and primary care manager (PCM) provide primary care -- the central resource for your health needs: preventive, routine, and urgent.

    Family Medicine:

    Adults and children can be assigned to a Primary Care Manager (PCM) in Family Medicine.  The Medical Home Port Clinic's primary function is to provide care to TRICARE Prime and designated SPP (Special Provisions Patient) beneficiaries. Other categories of patients are seen on a space available basis. TRICARE Prime patients are enrolled to a specific Primary Care Manager. In the event that an appointment is not available with the assigned Primary Care Manager, another provider on the team may provide the needed services.

    The following services are available:

    • Contraceptive counseling and prescription
    • Health Promotion
    • Vasectomy counseling 
    • Minor Biopsies
    • Obstetrical care to include Pap smears and gynecological screening examinations *
    • Preventive services
    • Referral services for patients requiring specialist evaluation.
    • Routine and same day/acute care
    • Chronic illness management
    • Routine immunizations
    • School and sports physicals
    • Wart removal
    • Well Baby appointments at 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 and 24 months.
    • Medication management with embedded pharmacist

    Nurse walk-in appointments are available for specific medical needs, please see list below.

    • sore throat
    • conjunctivitis (pink eye)
    • urinary tract infections
    • and suture removal
     
    Adult only services include:

    Medical Homeport's primary function is to provide care to TRICARE Prime and designated Special Provisions Patient (SPP) beneficiaries. Each enrolled TRICARE Prime beneficiary is assigned to a Primary Care Manager (PCM). In the event that an appointment is not available with the assigned PCM an appointment with another provider can be facilitated.

     

    Nurse walk-in appointments are available for specific pediatric and adult medical needs. (See list below)

    • Routine immunizations
    • School and sports physicals
    • Wart removal
    • Well Baby appointments

    Health Promotion and Wellness

    About this Service:

    The Health Promotion and Wellness Clinic's primary function is to provide lifestyle and wellness education to TRICARE beneficiaries. Other categories of patients are seen on a space available basis.  Our programs are designed to empower the individual and the community to make healthy lifestyle choices to improve overall health, prevent future illness and to remain mission ready. The Health Promotion and Wellness Department is located in Building 23 (Dewert Clinic) on the first deck, hallway 7. We offer a wide variety of classes, presentations, one-on-one health counseling and outreach health fairs to the personnel of NAVSTA Newport, including all tenant commands, NHCNE military/beneficiaries and DoD staff members.  Virtual options are available as needed.

    The following services are available:

    • Nutrition Counseling
    • Disease Management
    • Tobacco Cessation
    • Community Outreach
    • Reproductive Sexual Health counseling
    • ShipShape classes

    Offers individual and group classes, including:  tobacco cessation, weight management, health fitness, diabetes education and nutrition.  Please stop by, call, or make an appointment.

    King Hall Medical 

    About this service:

    Active duty members must show up in the uniform of the day or proper civilian attire if in a leave status. Member must also have, in their possession, a valid military I.D. card

    Location: Newport, RI

    King Hall (Bldg 291, 1st Floor): Active Duty members assigned to NAPS, BOOST, OIS, SWOS DOC, NSI, SEA, Chaplain's Basic School, and non-enrollees due to assignment at NAVSTA of less than 180 days are primarily cared for at the King Hall Military Medicine Clinic on the first floor of King Hall (Building 291), Newport Naval Station. King Hall operates on a traditional sick call system to avoid lost class time whenever possible. Monday to Friday: 0630 - 0900 (except on federal holidays) with walk-ins up to 1600. Acute/Follow-up care is Monday-Friday 0630-1600. Military personnel need to present in uniform of the day or regulation Navy PT gear. If you have any questions, please call 401-841-4553.
