The NHCNE immunizations clinics are currently out of the "new" shingles vaccine SHINGRIX at all NHCNE sites. This vaccine is for the prevention of the shingles disease in patients over 50 years of age. Manufacturer production is unable to keep up with the extremely high demand for this product. We have no clear date of when this shortage will end. All NHCNE sites are still able to order the Zostavax vaccine, which is for the prevention of shingles in patients age 60 and older. You can speak with your Health Care Provider or the Immunizations nurse to understand your options with these vaccines. We will keep you updated on this shortage via Tricare Online secure messaging, the NHCNE website and the NHCNE Facebook page.
NHCNE Newport chiropractic services has relocated to the 2
nd deck of the Dewert clinic next to the Optometry department.
NHCNE/NBHC Medical Treatment Facilities do not provide Emergency Care. TRICARE defines an emergency as a medical, maternity, or psychiatric emergency that would lead a "prudent layperson" (someone with average knowledge of health and medicine) to believe that a serious medical condition existed, or the absence of medical attention would result in a threat to his/her life, limb, or sight and requires immediate medical treatment, or which has painful symptoms requiring immediate attention to relieve suffering.
All TRICARE beneficiaries, in the event of a life-, limb-, or eyesight-threatening emergency, should call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room for care. Emergency Care does not require an authorization.
If enrolled to prime within a NHCNE MTF and it is an urgent situation or professional advice after normal business hours is required, please call the 24/7 Tricare Nurse Advice Line at 1-800-TRICARE (874-2273) and select option 1 to speak with a registered nurse. The Tricare Nurse Advice Line can provide you with professional advice, or a referral to a network urgent care or emergency room if appropriate. If you are out of area, contact Humana Military within 24 hours at 1-800-444-5445 to notify your PCM of an emergency admission or ER visit to coordinate continued care and ensure proper claims processing.
